2021 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships, Abu Dhabi
15-19 November 2021
FICS Team:  Dr Audrey Yargui and Dr Paul Cheung

A look back at the 2021 world jiu-jitsu championships, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates.
After almost 2 years without competitions, the world of jiu-jitsu found itself in Abu Dhabi to end the year. Doctors Paul Cheung (Dubai) and Audrey Yargui (France) represented FICS during this competition where more than 60 countries sent their athletes (around 1400 athletes). This event saw around 2000 people over 9 days, all roles combined. For many, a podium in Abu Dhabi was their last chance to score enough points to secure their World Games ticket in July 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The stakes were high for everyone.

We performed approximately 200 chiropractic treatments over the entire competition. (athletes, coach, referees, organizers …) The problems of shoulders, elbow, hands, cervical, ankles, lumbar / hip punctuated the competition according to the categories and according to the fights in the fighting system and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Thank you to our sponsors. This event allowed us to exchange with the countries of South America, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Asia present. Exchanges on our techniques, our approaches with the care teams of the delegations, care brought to their athletes. We had the pleasure of meeting part of the local medical team, already present in 2019. This was a facilitating point in the continuity of our collaboration. We thank the JJIF for its trust and for taking good care of us during its 9 days.

On the way to 2022 !!!
