The Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) is the national governing organization for sports chiropractic in Canada. Chartered as a specialty college of the chiropractic profession in 1984, the RCCSS(C) is an educational and coordinating organization that acts as the regulatory college for chiropractic sports specialists in Canada.
FICS membership pathway
The RCCSS(C) offers a membership category that gives Canadian chiropractors who are not enrolled in its Fellowship programme access to FICS membership and support from the RCCSS(C) community.

Development of sports chiropractic in Chile
In March 2019, Dr Raรบl Guiรฑez Martรญnez represented the Chilean Chiropractic Corporation (CCHQ) at the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) assembly in Berlin, Germany. CCHQ is Chileโs professional chiropractic association and has an official relationship with the WFC.
At that assembly, arrangements were made for FICS ICSC certification for chiropractors who had graduated from the Central University of Chile. The initiative addressed FICS recommendations concerning appropriate educational criteria for sports chiropractic and adherence to ethical principles.
This development was linked to membership of the national professional organisation and its relationship with the WFC.
Education, communication and professional development
A key focus of SOCHIQUIDE is sharing academic activities and providing education for the public, healthcare teams, coaching and support staff, and athletes participating in organised or amateur sport. The society plans to use digital platforms, social networks and a central website to serve the community and its members.
SOCHIQUIDE also proposes digital marketing support for each member to promote sports chiropractic and practitioners who have trained in this field. A dedicated communications directorate was proposed for this work, comprising communications directors led by Dr Diego Honorato.

The Sports Committee is part of the AQPR (Puerto Rico Chiropractic Association). It was established in 2010 during Dr Marรญa Dueรฑoโs presidency. Since then, the NCSC has participated in several national games, worked at the Central American Games in Mayagรผez in 2010 and in Mexico in 2014, and treated athletes from sports clubs, leagues and professional teams.
We achieved ICCSP certification in 2016 and now hold ICSC certification. Our mission is to make chiropractic care available to athletes and promote its role in sport.

Global chiropractic family
Sometimes the value of a global network is measured in something very simple: someone answering when you ask for help. When Australian sports chiropractor Dr Ross McIlveen travelled to Canada with the Australian Over 60s cricket team for the World Cup in Mississauga, there was one essential piece of equipment he couldnโt easily bring with him โ a treatment table. So Ross reached out to the Canadian chiropractic community through his FICS membership network. FICS introduced him, shared his long connection with FICS and sports chiropractic, and asked whether anyone in the Mississauga area might be willing to lend him a portable table for the tournament. Dr Patrick Welsh from Canada answered the call.
A simple act of generosity meant Ross could arrive in Canada ready to do his job and support the Australian players throughout the competition.
The story later came full circle.
Ross and Patrick caught up over dinner, where Ross was able to thank him properly โ with a miniature cricket bat signed by the Australian Over 60s team and, in a very Australian addition to the arrangement, a few packets of Tim Tams. A particularly appropriate gift, as Patrickโs wife studied in Australia and developed a lasting appreciation for them.
It is a small story, but it says something important about the community FICS has built.
Ross has spent decades in sports chiropractic. He completed his FICS ICSSD in 2002, upgraded to the ICSC in 2021, has taught taping at more than ten FICS modules, worked across more than 1,000 Australian Rules football games and is now supporting his fifth Over 50s or Over 60s Cricket World Cup.
Yet even after all those years of experience, the same principle remains true: none of us works in isolation. Across countries, sports and generations, our profession is strengthened by people who are willing to share their knowledge, their time, their equipment and their support.

A message sent from Australia became a connection in Canada.

Opportunities at international events
- Pathway towards LA28, the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and other International Federation events.
- FICS is excited to announce a new opportunity for sports chiropractors to support athletes at DEKA FIT events across North America through a collaboration with Dynamic Tape and the Spartan/Tough Mudder/DEKA organization. Dynamic Tape, a valued partner and sponsor of FICS, has entered into an agreement to provide biomechanical taping support at DEKA FIT events throughout the United States and Canada.
Through this partnership, FICS members have the opportunity to represent both FICS and Dynamic Tape while providing recovery and performance services to athletes competing at these events. Contact FICS for current DEKA FIT volunteer opportunities, event dates and participation requirements.
Global standards and opportunities
Regional membership is open to doctors holding a chiropractic degree. Scholarship, certification, leadership and event opportunities are subject to their applicable eligibility and selection requirements. Membership does not guarantee an appointment at LA28 or another event.
