About the Program
The Student Commission leads the FICS Mentoring Program, connecting chiropractic students, recent graduates, and aspiring sports chiropractors with experienced professionals in the field.
Navigating sports chiropractic can be challenging from understanding licensing requirements and international practice regulations to gaining experience working with athletes and building professional networks. Having a mentor who has already walked this path provides valuable guidance, support, and insight.
The FICS Mentoring Program is designed to foster professional growth, expand networks, and support career development at every stage of the sports chiropractic journey. Research highlights mentoring as a powerful tool for improving motivation, engagement, confidence, and professional outcomes.

Going from university/college straight into the professional working world can be an overwhelming and sometimes confusing experience. Students/recent graduates might have thought the learning stopped after sitting their last exam, but in reality, we all know how hard it is to take that first step into the working world. This is when real learning starts.

Mentee requirements
A student in their
- Final year of studies. (4th Year students interested will be accepted based on their application and interests).
- Recent graduate: individuals who have graduated within (5) five years of the application year.
The mentoring program is open to repeat applications across multiple years; however, preference will be given to first-time candidates to ensure opportunities are extended to new participants.

Mentor Benefits
Calling Sports Chiropractor +5 years post graduation
Become a mentor and help shape the next generation of sports chiropractors while continuing to grow your own professional journey.
FICS Mentor’s requirements:
- FICS member of your local NCSC, RCSC or as an individual member with FICS
- 5 years experience working as a practising chiropractor
- Completed, enrolled or interested in enrolling in FICS educational International certification in sports chiropractic (ICSC).

Mentoring offers a rewarding opportunity to share your clinical knowledge and experience with students and recent graduates as they transition from classroom learning into real-world sports practice.
It complements clinical supervision and field-based learning by providing broader career guidance, professional insight, and support beyond day-to-day practice environments.
