Power of Networking LETS GET YOU STARTED

The power of networking and mentoring shaping your future

“ The mentoring program was an amazing experience which allowed me to expand my knowledge of Sports Chiropractic, build my network and support me through my final year of University. This support is priceless and is an incredible opportunity that any Chiropractic student should take up! “

Dr Samuel Tiley

The Student Commission guides the FICS Mentoring Program, which allows sports chiropractors to share their professional knowledge and experience with chiropractic students and any motivated chiropractor seeking direction.

Some of the challenges which sport chiropractic students face is connecting with practising doctors and working their way through the minefields. Some of the common questions about licensing, laws, and practice in countries they may not be from and how they can get valuable experience working with athletes, all comes from becoming connected with an experienced hand who has been there and knows the ropes.

Once a month, for 6 months, this mentoring program is virtual sessions via video call or in person depending on the location of your mentor.

Lets get you started

The FICS Mentoring Program provides sports chiropractors to share their professional knowledge and experience with students, recent graduates and other aspiring sports chiropractors. Mentoring has been identified as an important learning and development strategy for expanding networks and experience. FICS advocates for mentoring at all stages of sports chiropractic education and throughout each sports chiropractor’s career. Research has shown that having a mentor supports the achievement of personal and professional goals and improves motivation, engagement and work performance.

MENTORS - More information

Mentoring is a great way to support the learning and career development that occurs outside of the classroom.  Mentoring is complementary to the supervision that occurs when student chiropractors/recent graduates work or intern in a clinic, practice or field-side with athletes at sports events. Mentoring is a very rewarding process in which the mentor is given the opportunity to pass on their knowledge and passion for the profession.  Mentors also get to expand their network of contacts and tap into fresh new ideas and industry trends. Mentoring is a valuable two-way learning experience that benefits both the mentor and mentee.

The FICS mentoring program will allow sports chiropractors to share their professional knowledge and experience with students and recent graduates.

MENTEES - More information

Going from university/college straight into the professional working world can be an overwhelming and sometimes confusing experience. Students/recent graduates might have thought the learning stopped after sitting their last exam, but in reality, we all know how hard it is to take that first step into the working world. This is when real learning starts.

Are you looking for ways to find jobs, mentors, and preceptor opportunities abroad? To assist you, FICS has a mentoring program that connects students with sports chiropractors who can develop these relationships, assist with questions, or point them in the right direction.

If you are interested in a mentor, fill in the application form below. If you have any questions, please contact the FICS Student Commission via admin@ficsport.org
