The 2017 Concussion in Sport Group (CISG)ย consensus statement is designed to build on theย principles outlined in the previous statements 1โ4ย and to develop further conceptual understandingย of sport-related concussion (SRC) using an expertย consensus-based approach. This document is developedย for physicians and healthcare providers whoย are involved in athlete care, whether at a recreational,ย elite or professional level. While agreementย exists on the principal messages conveyed by thisย document, the authors acknowledge that theย science of SRC is evolving and therefore individualย management and return-to-play decisions remain inย the realm of clinical judgement. First and foremost, this documentย is intended to guide clinical practice; however, theย authors feel that it can also help form the agendaย for future research relevant to SRC by identifyingย knowledge gaps.ย
