π Representing FICS at The World Games (TWG) 2025 β Chengdu, China π¨π³
What an unforgettable experience it was to be part of 12th TWG25, held for the very first time in Mainland China! With over 3,600 athletes from 118 countries competing across 34 sports, this was more than a sporting event, it was a global celebration of sport delivered to a very high standard across all venues, the athlete village and opening and closing ceremonies. π
I had the immense privilege of attending as part of the FICS family, playing a supporting role alongside some of the worldβs most dedicated and skilled sports chiropractors. π At major international events like The World Games, sports chiropractors are part of the medical team, supporting athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers so that every person can achieve their optimal performance naturally.
We may not receive medals, but the smile on athletes’ faces when they achieved their dreams, the gratitude of officials returning each day, and the gratitude from volunteers for the care they receive, that was our reward. Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders, witnessing resilience and results every day brought a huge sense of pride.
Being in Chengdu, surrounded by passionate people from over 118 countries, was both humbling and energizing. The buzz of activity, the shared purpose, and the collaboration were all part of something much bigger them us. We all played a role in the celebration of sport. From the volunteers who greeted us at the accommodation block, to the laundry staff, cooks, dining hall waiters, medical personnel in the tents, the LOC and IWGA admin teams, the bus drivers, the security staff scanning us in and out, to the coaches, officials, and of course, the athletes, every single person played their part in delivering an event that was electric, unforgettable, and world-class.
Personal highlights:
- Experiencing the warmth, professionalism, and hospitality of our Chinese hosts.
- Reconnecting with colleagues and making new friends from around the globe.
- Feeling the unity of sport, beyond borders, languages, and backgrounds.
- And most of all, being part of the FICS family, where collaboration, excellence, and service always come first.
TWG25 reminded me of why we do what we do. Whether you’re competing for gold, coaching from the sidelines, or volunteering behind the scenes, performance is personal, and support truly matters. Grateful for the opportunity. Grateful for the connections. Grateful for the lifelong memories.
Hereβs to #SportsChiropractic, natural performance, and the incredible people who make it all happen behind the scenes. Thank you IWGA and Chengdu, China.
