Head Injury in Sport Course (ICSC01)
Through research, we improve the diagnosis and management of concussive episodes and it is important that all chiropractors treating athletes keep up-to-date with the latest assessment within this field. Doctors applying to attend international games MUST update this module every 2 years and be current at the time of any team application
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this course is to provide doctors of chiropractic with training in the evaluation, treatment, and foundations of sport-related concussion, intracranial hematomas, and facial injuries.
Sport-related concussion including definition, examination, mechanism of injury, cervico/cranial syndrome, and foundation.
Subdural, epidural, and intracerebral hematomas as well as increased intracranial pressure will be discussed.
Injuries of the eye, ear, nose, and mouth which are commonly seen in sport.
Course Outcome
1. Recognize and identify the signs and symptoms of sports concussions.
2. Recognize and identify the signs and symptoms of intracranial hematoma.
3. Recognize the most common facial injuries which occur in sport.
