The World Games 2025!🏅

The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu, China 7-17 August 2025.

The World Games (TWG) is an event organised by the International World Games Association (IWGA) every 4 years. This edition, TWG2025, included 34 sports consisting of 60 disciplines, 23 venues, 256 medal events, and total of 3928 athletes participated representing 113 countries.

FICS has a standing agreement to provide a delegation to support TWG at this event. Our delegation of 53 individuals included 3 VIP Guests of the IWGA (President, Secretary General, and Research Lead), 1 Administrator, 4 Research Assistants (Chiropractic Students or recent Graduates) and 45 sports chiropractors from 13 different countries. The FICS delegation provides sports chiropractic at every venue in the warm-up areas but not on the field of play as that is provided by the local organisation committee (LOC). They work closely with the LOC medical services that support the field of play and spectator services. The focus of our care is on assisting the athletes in preparation for their performance and recovery between and after each competition. Sports chiropractic is offered to all accredited individuals, including athletes, support personnel, officials, and volunteers. This service is at no cost, on a voluntary basis and by request from the individual. FICS also had a delegation at the VIP hotel to service the IWGA guests, including the presidents and secretary general of the international federations and national governing bodies

We had a fantastic delegation of sports chiropractors represent FICS and our profession at this event. I know there are other reports on TWG for your review but wanted to focus on the hard work our team did during these games. Utilisation of our services during an event is a key driver for our current involvement in the world of sport. The athletes and the service providers (coaches, medical, referees, media, officials, and volunteers) all make this event happen. The focus is on the athletes, but supporting the non-athletes is important to the organizers of any event.

These outcomes would not be possible without the dedication of the sports chiropractors who were selected for this event.

June 2025

CSIT Games 2025!🏅

The 2025 CSIT World Sports Games in Loutraki, Greece, was more than just a sporting event, it was a celebration of global collaboration, shared purpose, and the collective strength of a unified team. Throughout the week, our international team provided 1,124 treatments, delivering evidence-informed care in fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable environments.

This experience reminded us not only of the power of sports chiropractic, but also of what’s possible when passionate people come together in service. It reaffirmed our commitment to building something sustainable, grounded in teamwork, trust, and a shared vision for the future of FICS.

The team culture was the defining strength of this event. From the start, we had visible, engaged leadership and a strong clinical core. The volunteer pairings at each venue were spot on, they allowed people to complement one another’s strengths and build trust quickly. That early success in pairing was not accidental; it created the foundation for teamwork, problem-solving, and cohesion that carried through the entire week.

The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Catherine Quinn to the newly established role of ParaSport Development Officer. A Structured Approach to ParaSport Integration: The appointment of Dr. Quinn comes as FICS launches a structured, multi-phase approach to integrate ParaSport into the organisation’s strategic goals. The new initiative, led by Dr. Quinn, will involve conducting a comprehensive scoping review of FICS members, developing specialised educational modules in collaboration with the FICS Education Commission, and embedding ParaSport competencies into the International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic (ICSC) program. This process will help ensure that chiropractors are well-equipped to support ParaSport athletes at events and in their ongoing training.

Quote from Dr. Catherine Quinn: Dr. Catherine Quinn shared her enthusiasm for the role:

“It is an honour to lead FICS’s efforts to bring sports chiropractic to an underserved and truly inspiring group of athletes within the disability and ParaSport communities. This is a remarkable opportunity to contribute to a community where access to high-quality MSK healthcare can make a profound difference. By working closely with federations and building a sustainable model of support, we can ensure that all athletes have access to sports chiropractic as is FICS vision, whether at local events, international championships, or the Paralympic Games. My goal is to understand and address the unique challenges these athletes face in collaboration with key stakeholders, so we can help provide long-term, meaningful support.”

Dr Rene Fejer, Denmark at The World Games.

Volunteering at 2025 CSIT Games as part of the FICS Sports Chiropractic team brings many rewards.

Chiropractic is an exceptional profession, unparalleled in the health field. With just our hands, we can help many people. In the world of sports, the role of chiropractic is incomparable and at the same time a huge support for all other interventions in sports medicine.

It was extraordinary to realise that despite many athletes being unfamiliar with chiropractic, all, without exception, were unanimous in surrendering to the benefits of chiropractic.

This is the kind of experience that makes us return home with the confidence reinforced that we (chiropractors) are an essential part of the athlete’s health and performance. It makes us want to come back and be side by side with colleagues who share the same passion, sharing experience and knowledge.

I am looking forward to the next adventure, the 2025 World Games, in Chengdu, China to continue to build my experience and skills.

Thankyou FICS

Selection Process & Timelines

If you are interested in applying to volunteer at any of the FICS events, you will have to keep an eye out for the call for volunteers. This will be widely distributed through our social media channels as well as on our website listed in our events calendar below.

  • We will endeavour to open most applications at least 4-6 months prior to an event.
  • Unfortunately, some selected events may only allow us 4-6 weeks in which to advertise, select a team and get organised.
  • In the case of a gold tier event, we will often need to advertise as far as a year out from the competition. If any of these events are on your bucket list, you’re going to want to keep in touch. Please keep an eye on our social media and keep referring back to the website.

All applications will need to be sent to the Games Admin mailbox games@fics.sport. The applications will be collected and collated.

The teams will be selected by the International Sporting Federations Commission (ISFC).

The ISFC Committee will communicate the success of your application with you and will provide you with a copy of the FICS Code of Conduct and Field Manual, along with all the details you will need in order to perform your duties as a proud member of the FICS team.

Team Selection

FICS’ s goal is to promote the growth and development of our members by providing diverse opportunities.

  • This approach not only supports the International Federations but also ensures a legacy of inclusivity and growth within the organisation.
  • By including a mix of veteran doctors, those with minimal experience, and first-time event doctors, FICS ensures that all members can advance their careers and contribute to the global sports chiropractic community.
  • Maintaining these high standards, including the chiropractic degree and ICSC certification, is essential to ensure that every doctor representing FICS meets the highest professional and clinical requirements.
  • These standards uphold our global reputation and ensure the quality of care provided at all events, which is crucial for maintaining trust with international sports federations.

Selection of the teams will vary according to the category of the event being advertised. We will categorise these events into Gold, Silver and Bronze tier events. Each event will carry a certain number of points which you will be able to accrue and put into your Games Selection portfolio. The idea of the tiering system is not only to encourage you to get more involved in all level of events and different sporting codes but most importantly, it will give the Games Committee a more objective and transparent system by which to select the best team and most appropriately experienced FICS teams for specific events.

For our Gold Tier events, we would need to send our most experienced and most reliable team possible. This tiering system will afford the ISFC Commission a clear and fair way of making these selections. There will be a number of ways that a member will be able to accrue points for their portfolio:

  • completing further CPD and educational requirements
  • involvement in the FICS administration/management/commission structures
  • involvement in local community sports teams/federations
  • involvement and participation in your NCSC/RCSC

Participation at events is vital and will weigh significantly when it comes to selecting FICS teams that will need to be “match fit”.

Detail on the tiering system and how to improve your portfolio status can be found below.
