About Thomas
He began his chiropractic education at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, Southern California University of Health Sciences, in 2004. During his studies, he served as President of the Associated Student Body and held several other leadership roles across campus organisations.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, was class Salutatorian, and received the Student Service Award along with nine academic scholarships. He successfully completed all four examinations of the American National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the physiotherapy examination, and all three examinations of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board. He currently holds an active chiropractic license in the state of Texas.

Interests
- Beyond chiropractic, Dr. Halyk holds a 1st Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is a certified ski instructor with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance.
- In addition to Canada, he has lived in Taiwan, South Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, and Malaysia, giving him a broad international perspective that informs both his teaching and clinical work.
- Dr. Halyk holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (1994) and a Diploma in Broadcast Communications, specialising in Journalism (1996).
Clinical, Academic & International Sports Experience
Before entering academia, he co-owned and operated a successful sports chiropractic practice in The Hague, Netherlands. During this time, he worked with professional, semi-professional, top amateur, Olympic-caliber, and national-champion athletes and teams across a wide range of sports.
From February 2022 to August 2025, he served at IMU University in Malaysia as Clinical Education Coordinator and Senior Lecturer in the Chiropractic Department within the School of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. His academic work has focused strongly on clinical education, mentorship, and preparing the next generation of chiropractors for professional practice.
Throughout his career, he has travelled to 10 countries and dedicated approximately 1,000 hours to on-field care for elite international athletes at world, international, and national-level sporting events. His experience spans a broad range of sports and competitive environments.
In 2019, he was named Chiropractor of the Year by the Dutch Chiropractic Federation. He was also a co-recipient of the Best Research Paper Award at the 2025 FICS Global Symposium.
