Upper Extremity Injuries in Sport (ICSC06)

Course Overview

Through research, we improve the diagnosis and management of upper extremity injuries and it is important that all chiropractors treating athletes keep up-to-date with the latest assessment within this field.

Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to provide doctors of chiropractic with training in the evaluation, treatment, and foundations of sport-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

The course will discuss the following:

Upper extremity conditions

Pathoanatomy

Biomechanics

Epidemiology

Acute and chronic foundations of these conditions

1. Recognize common upper extremity injuries in sport.

2. Understand the pathoanatomy and epidemiology of upper extremity injuries in sport.

3. Understand the biomechanics of upper extremity injuries in sport.

4. Determine and provide appropriate acute and sub-acute management of upper extremity conditions in sports.
