
Dr. Thomas Halyk
B.A., D.C., DACBSP, ICSC, CSCS, EMT-B
Originally from Canada, Dr. Thomas S. Halyk is the Director of Clinical Education at Texas Chiropractic College in Houston, Texas, USA.
From February 2022 to August 2025, he served at IMU University in Malaysia as the Clinical Education Coordinator and a Senior Lecturer in the Chiropractic Department (School of Alternative and Complementary Medicine).
Before entering academia, Dr. Halyk co-owned and operated a successful sports chiropractic practice in The Hague, Netherlands, where he worked with numerous professional, semi-professional, top amateur, and Olympic-caliber or national-champion athletes and teams.
Over the course of his career, he has traveled to ten countries and dedicated roughly 1,000 hours to on-field care for elite international athletes across a wide range of sports at world, international, and national-level events. In 2019, he was honored as the Dutch Chiropractic Federation’s Chiropractor of the Year.
Dr. Halyk holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (1994) and a Diploma in Broadcast Communications with a specialization in Journalism (1996). He began his chiropractic education at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, Southern California University of Health Sciences, in 2004. During his time at SCU, he served as President of the Associated Student Body and held several other leadership roles across various campus organizations.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, earning recognition as the class Salutatorian and receiving the Student Service Award, in addition to nine academic scholarships. Dr. Halyk successfully passed all four examinations of the American National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, as well as the physiotherapy exam, and all three examinations of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board. He currently holds an active chiropractic license in the state of Texas.
Since graduating, Dr. Halyk has earned Diplomate status with the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP) and achieved multiple additional certifications, including:

• Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP)
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
• Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B)

He is also the co-recipient of the Best Research Paper Award at the 2025 FICS Global Symposium.
Beyond chiropractic, he holds a 1st Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do, is a certified ski instructor with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance, and outside of Canada, he has lived in Taiwan, South Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, and Malaysia.
Dr. Halyk is committed to educating and supporting the next generation of chiropractors and sports chiropractors. He looks forward to continuing that work with the students at Texas Chiropractic College and at FICS seminars worldwide.
