About Alan
He is the immediate past president and one of the founders of the Professional Football Chiropractic Society and the past 2 term president of the Maryland Chiropractic Association. Dr. Sok was selected as Maryland’s Chiropractor of the Year 2001-2 and the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physician’s Sports Chiropractor of the Year 2006. He holds an inactive post-graduate degree as a Diplomat of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians.
Member of the University of Maryland Sports Medicine Team since 1991, working with the UMBC Retrievers and Maryland Terps.
His postgraduate interests include soft-tissue care, sports injuries and taping techniques.
Sports Experience
- Continues to be the team chiropractor for 2-time Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens of the NFL since 1999.
- Medical team member for the Major League Baseball Baltimore Orioles and AA Team Bowie Baysox (since 2009).
- Current member of the University of Maryland Sports Medicine Team since 1991.
- He did his residency at the United States Olympic Training Center in 1997.
- Appointed to the Goodwill Games Medical Team in 1998 and USA Olympic Medical Team for the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, Canada
Professional highlights
- While he continues to be an international speaker / presenter / consultant, his passion is youth sports, health, and safety. Alan an active board member of BASH (Baltimore Area Sports Health initiative) designed to advance healthcare provided to young athletes in Baltimore and beyond, as well as creating educational opportunities. He was also the coordinator for the Anne Arundel County Recreational Youth Coaches’ Educational Clinics.
- For over 10 years, Dr. Sok also hosted a weekly health, interactive radio program in Baltimore called "Talkin' Back".
- He has written and helped produce a series of award-winning Injury Prevention Videos for the Library Video Network. He recently completed his first in a series of concussion prevention DVDs, Tackling Concussion Head On, starring NFL, college, and high school guests..
