Dr Warren McDonald is a Sports and Exercise Physician who has been involved in elite sport for over 20 years. He worked at the Australian Institute of Sport from 1990 to 2000 during which time he was team doctor for Australian Men’s Water Polo team at the FINA World Championships in 1994 and 1998, and was a team doctor to the Australian Olympic Team in 1996 and 2000.

He has been involved in elite rugby since 1997 and was team doctor for the ACT Brumbies from 1999 until 2009 and for the Wallabies from 2008 until 2013.

• Chief Medical Officer of the Australian Rugby Union since 2010.
• Member of the World Rugby Medical Commission since 2011.
• Chairman of the SANZA(A)R medical commission from 2014 to 2016, and chairman of the Oceania Rugby

Sports Science / Sports Medicine Advisory Group from 2014 to 2016. Dr McDonald has run a private sport and exercise medicine practice in Canberra from 2001 until 2019. He is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Canberra and also a member of the ACT Physical Activity Foundation whose focus is to increase the physical activity levels of the Canberra population, particularly children.
