Foot & Ankle Pain in the running athlete

Dr Luke Nelson has a special interest in sports injuries and rehabilitation, in particular running and golf biomechanics and injuries. He has worked with a number of elite and Olympic athletes from a wide variety of sports including Australian Rules football, athletics, water polo, golf, triathlon, cricket, athletics, ice hockey, volleyball and soccer.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

In this masterclass, “Foot & Ankle Injuries in the runner” we will cover:

  • The basic injury management principles when dealing with running athletes
  • We then discuss the 27 main conditions around the foot and ankle, arranged by foot region. We cover posterior ankle pain (which includes Achilles tendinopathy), plantar heel pain, medial foot, forefoot, lateral foot and top of foot pain conditions, discussing the diagnosis & evidenced based injury management strategies for each condition
