Hong Kong Chiropractor Plays as the Dodgeball National Athlete at Team Hong Kong

Hong Kong, a former British colony, has been heavily influenced by Western culture. This is especially evident in its sporting scene; horse racing boasts the most spectators, while soccer, basketball, badminton, swimming, table tennis and cycling have the most participants.
The Western influence has continued to grow with the introduction of dodgeball, a popular sport among American school children. The Dodgeball Association of Hong Kong, China was created in 2006 to help increase the sport’s popularity not only among youth, but adults as well. There’s even a dodgeball bootcamp for beginner and intermediate players led by players and coaches from the Hong Kong Dodgeball League.

Dr. Shun Zhe Piong was born and raised in Malaysia. Since young playing sports has played a huge role in his life. He moved to Hong Kong to pursue a career as Chiropractor under NYMG (EC HEALTHCARE) where he has the option to work hard and play hard. Dodgeball and sports have been his driving force to excel as a chiropractor. Being a chiropractor allowed him to seamlessly understand how the body works and how each joints and muscles function as a unit which improves his performance overall.

He started playing dodgeball during college, back then it was a sport where he took it as leisure. The more he played, the more he felt that he wanted to challenge himself one step further. He decided to put more effort into discovering the sport, and to learn to be better than the rest. It was very easy to get along with the sports as he had plenty sports experience in the past which uses the same biomechanics as dodgeball (volleyball, badminton, basketball, etc)
He got selected to represent Malaysia for the World Dodgeball Championship where all the best players competed. This makes him one of the youngest rookies to compete at the highest level.

This year 2022, he was selected to represent Hong Kong for world level competition. He was proud to be able to bring new heights for Team Hong Kong as we triumph 4th in world ranking making history for the country. Nothing stops him until He become the best.

Being a 2 time dodgeball world champion means he takes everything as a challenge which puts him in a very competitive state. He thrives to be the best at whatever he does. To get there, there were many obstacles in between. Discipline and the need to succeed were very crucial throughout the process.

“Working in NYMG has brought him many opportunities and realization on how the world revolves. It has opened up on what chiropractic can do and what its future holds. There are so many that are yet to be discovered and to be explored in this world of chiropractic. NYMG has been a great learning place and definitely a pioneer for modern chiropractic. All in all, dodgeball and chiropractic have been my strength and pillars of mylife. I'd say, I wouldn't have it any other way.” He said

Hong Kong does not have enough total chiropractors, therefore the doctors who are focus in sports are relatively lesser.

Part II: Areas where FICS and your NCSC could collaborate

FICS can assist in mobolizing the regions with excessive chiropractors to persuade career in Asia.
