(ICSC) #01: Scat 6 – Concussion & Head Injuries in Sport

The purpose of this module is to provide doctors of chiropractic with training in the evaluation, treatment and management of sport related concussion, hematomas, and facial injuries. The module will discuss: sport related concussion including definition, examination, mechanism of injury, cervico/cranial syndrome, and management). Subdural, epidural, and intracerebral hematomas as well as increased intracranial pressure will be discussed. Finally, injuries of the eye, ear, nose, and mouth which are commonly seen in sport will be presented.

The 2023 Head Injury Concussion update is presented in accordance with the 6th International Conference on Concussion in Sport (ICCS). This vital update delves into a comprehensive exploration of concussion management and the SCAT 6 protocol. Its significance extends to doctors participating in international events and ICSC instructors, forming an integral part of their ongoing ICSC professional growth and currency.

It is imperative for every bearer of the International Certificate in Sports Chiropractor (ICSC) to complete the Head Injury Update course, ensuring they remain abreast of the most contemporary advancements in field assessment, care, and prevention of head injuries in the realm of sports.
