Dr Janice Drover

BSc, DC, FRCCSS(C)

Dr. Janice Drover is a dedicated wife, mom of two, and Sports Chiropractor from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.  She has an undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa and a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC).  In 2002 she completed a 2 year post graduate residency in sports chiropractic, and in 2003 became a Fellow in the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) giving her the designation of Chiropractic Sports Specialist.

Dr. Drover’s interest in the health care aspect of sport, started in university when she was working as a student athletic therapist for the Ottawa Gee Gee’s Varsity Women’s Soccer Team and continued as she completed her Doctor of Chiropractic and Residency in Sports Chiropractic.   During her training she gained valuable sports experience working with the Canada Basketball/NIKE All Canada Camps, the Ontario Provincial Soccer Association, the Toronto Lynx and Calgary Storm USL A-League soccer teams, the Calgary International Track Club and the 2022 Canadian National Bobsleigh Team.   As part of her residency program, Janice conducted research under the guidance of Dr. Walter Herzog at the Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary.  Upon completion of her residency program Dr. Drover returned to the Toronto area, where she joined the sports medicine team for the York University Varsity program, worked as an assistant professor in the department of Clinical Education at CMCC, as well as working in private practice.

In late 2006 Dr. Drover’s east coast roots called her back to St. John’s Newfoundland where she is in private practice at Core Insight Chiropractic.  She is heavily involved in the local sporting community at the grassroots, provincial, university and professional level where she currently is the sports chiropractor for the ECHL and CEBL Newfoundland Growlers hockey and basketball franchises. 

Dr. Drover has extensive experience working at Major and Minor multisport games.   She has been part of host services health care teams for the 2010 Vancouver Paralympic Games, 2011 Halifax Canada Winter Games and the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.  She has been the Sports Chiropractor the Core Health Services Team for Team Canada at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the 2019 Lima Pan Am Games, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games and has been named to the team for the 2023 Santiago Pan Am Games.  She has travelled with the Canadian Men’s National Soccer team since 2018 and is currently traveling with Team Gushue, Curling Canada’s 2006 Olympic Gold and 2022 Olympic Bronze medalists.

Dr. Drover served on the Board of the RCCSS(C) from 2008-2022 in various executive roles such as treasurer, president, and past president.  She also enjoys being a mentor for other female sports practitioners as part of Sports Scientist Canada’s, Women in Sports Science committee.  She was excited to take part in the Paris FICS 2023 NCSC meetings and Global Sports Chiropractic Symposium!
