Dr. Neki Patel

BSc DC ICCSP ICSC

With a deep passion for helping athletes optimise their performance and recover from injuries, Dr. Patel has become one of the leading figures in the field of sports chiropractic in New Zealand.  His commitment to excellence and dedication to these patients have earned him recognition and respect both within the chiropractic community and the world of sports and mainly the athletes.

Born in Kenya and educated in the UK, Neki’s interest in healthcare and sport developed at a young age, with a family full of Doctors. Inspired by his own experiences with sports-related injuries, he set out to pursue a career that combined his passion for sports and his desire to help others.

Dr Patel gained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from AECC and immediately embarked on work at a prestigious London clinic where he was introduced to the world of elite sports people.  This is where his passion for using chiropractic in a sports setting was ignited.  After emigrating to New Zealand and setting up his own practice, Queenstown Health, Neki had the opportunity to work with New Zealand Super Rugby teams. From here, his reputation grew within the sporting community and he began working with the New Zealand Commonwealth Games Team in 2002 and since 1998, Australasian PGA.  He has been associated with football, ice hockey, boxing, tennis, mountain biking and winter sports at a local, national and international level.  He continues to work with and sponsor national New Zealand Ice Hockey Champions, The Stampede, men’s and women’s grassroots football, and PGA Golf. He also maintains his relationship, through his clinic, with the New Zealand All Blacks.

Neki’s reputation as an exceptional chiropractor leads him to work with athletes at various levels.  From professional athletes to sponsoring grassroots teams, he has treated individuals across a wide range of sports and levels including rugby, soccer, athletics, skiing, ice hockey, boxing, tennis and golf.  Recognising the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing, he actively participates in professional associations and organisations.  He is an esteemed member of the Federation Internationale de Chiropractique du Sport and contributes to their mission of promoting excellence is sports chiropractic worldwide.

Neki is a self-starting and motivated chiropractor who has a proven track record in sports chiropractic and business management.  He pioneered the multidisciplinary treatment model in New Zealand and works on a daily basis with physiotherapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, GPs and specialists.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Neki is a dedicated family man and an avid sports enthusiast.  He understands the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle and often emphasises the role of nutrition and exercise in achieving optimal health and wellness. Besides this, following a charity expedition to Chile with Raleigh International as a teenager, Neki set up a local branch of Raleigh New Zealand Youth Development Charity.  He worked in conjunction with the New Zealand army, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sir Michael Hill amongst others and this charitable work still remains a passion. Family remains the most important thing for Neki and passing on experiences to his children with adventure and laughter.
