2024 Paris Olympics

It was announced by the IOC Executive Board on the week ending 10 December 2020, that the focus for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games would be on gender equality and youth. For the first time in the Olympic’s history, there will be 100% gender equality i.e. there will be an exact 50/50 split between the number of male and female athletes. 28 of the 32 sports will be fully gendered equal. There is also a focus on more youth-orientated events. To support this, four new sports will be introduced in Paris. These will be skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing and breaking (or breakdance). Skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing were due to be display sports in Tokyo and will hopefully still get their exposure in July 2021 but will be introduced as competitive sports in the 2024 event program.

FICS have excellent relations with the sport climbing, surfing and dance federations and are looking to develop a relationship with the skateboarding federation. Although breaking will be something entirely new to the Olympic family, FICS has had exposure to breaking at the GAISF Urban Games held in Budapest in 2019. It is through these relations that have been built up through our commitment and involvement with the World Games Association over the past 15 years, that FICS is able to offer its full support to these new Olympic sports and their quest for youth involvement and gender equality.  If you are working regularly with these sports within your local community we would love to hear from you.

CSIT World Sports Games – NEW DATES – 2022 TBC

After months of pandemic lockdown, there is news leading to a positive sense of anticipation. The initiation of vaccinations offers a glimpse of hope we will soon be able to resume our mission of providing athletes access to sports chiropractic care.

With regards to the 7th CSIT World Sports Games. The CSIT Executive Committee will reconvene as soon as more information is available on the new date. Until then, we have little information to provide our Doctors, however below is a summary of the information we know at this stage.

The 7th CSIT World Sports Games which was due to take place at the wonderful Adriatic coast of the Emilia Romagna region in Italy, from 12th to 17th of October 2021 was delayed to 2022. As soon as more information is available we will update this page.

Cervia is the main host and will be supported by its partner cities Cesena, Cesenatico and  Ravenna. We were glad to find another ambitious host after the Games had to be withdrawn from Zagreb (Croatia) due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a severe earthquake.

Making friends through sport is not only shared by the World Sports Games but also a family value of FICS. Working these games is a priceless opportunity to learn, practice and share your experiences and knowledge while working hand in hand with other sports chiropractors from around the globe. I have been to Cesenatico for the first FICS sanctioned Tug of War championships. It is a beautiful resort town on the Adriatic Sea. The Emilia Romagna region of Italy is a north-central administrative region in Italy serviced by an International airport in Bologna. This will be one you don’t want to miss.
