ICSC09 – Special Sport Populations

The course breakdown provides you with an overview of the units and how each is broken up.  Each heading is a section within this course. Some sections have multiple units which you are required to work through before taking the unit quiz.

Course hours will be calculated as follows:

  1. Course instructional hours are actual times of instruction
  2. Reading Content- 20 minutes per document
  3. Quizzes post-module sections- 1 minute per question
  4. Module Exams – 1 minute per question

VIEW: Course objectives

This course will cover special sports populations including Paralympic athletes, female athletes, transgender athletes, senior athletes, paediatric athletes.  This course will also discuss sports nutrition and hydration as well as special sports conditions including sports hernia and sports dermatology.  Finally, mental performance in athletics will be discussed.

VIEW: Course activities

1. Videos: The videos will enhance the learning experience, which contains information pertaining to the course. Transcripts of the videos are provided for your benefit to download if you wish.

2. Article Readings: As part of the course, you will be asked to read various literature covering different aspects of head injuries in sports. Please read each article carefully as you will be tested on them.

3. Quizzes: The quizzes are designed to test your understanding of the materials. Each unit will have a short section quiz with an overall exam at the end of the course.

4. Final Exam: The online testing component of this module has been set to industry standard.

  • The final exams total time is set at 1 minute per question.
  • The quiz questions are sequence is randomized and will change every time you click into the assessment or exam.
  • The final exam questions will be presented one question at a time and will not allow backtracking, therefore make sure you take care when selecting your answer for each question.
  • For this module, you must score 80% or better to pass the final exam.
  • You will be given up to three attempts to reach the pass mark.
  • If you do not reach the pass mark the second time you are encouraged to revisit the learning material before your final attempt.

USEFUL TIPS: Planning your time

Courses, where there is section assessment, must be completed before the final unit exam is open up. No system is 100% reliable so we suggest that before you attempt the final exams you avoid last-minute problems and make sure you have adequate internet as the final exams will only load one question per page. Make sure you have a quiet environment and to assist you to plan appropriately we have outlined the total number of questions in the assessment units and the final exam. Before you start make sure you have completed all the unit requirements, so you are prepared.
